Marchmont Park Alpacas was established in 2005 on our 40 acre property near Yass in southern New South Wales. This is an area well suited to alpacas with cold winters and dry summers. Having both retired, Barry and I are able to spend much of our time with the alpacas in their day to day handling and being there when crias (baby alpacas) are born. We are committed to breeding healthy animals with sound temperaments.
Alpacas originated in South America but are now seen in Australia, New Zealand, England, Europe and the USA in increasing numbers. They serve many purposes:
* breeding
* showing
* producers of superb fleece
* sheep and goat guardians
* lovable pets.
We provide after sales support and advice to our clients and enjoy the interaction with others who share our passion for these beautiful animals. We utilise our fleeces in the creation of hand knitted garments and also in the production of dog/cria coats, doonas and vests which are offered for sale to the general public.
Our interests do not stop with alpacas. My daughter Suzanne and I have been breeding and showing Keeshond dogs since 1986. The Keeshond breed originated in Holland and Germany and are known for their magnificent full coats and their lovely temperaments. They are also known as “Dutch Barge Dogs”.
The three of us have recently branched out into online marketing of Alpaca products including cria coats and dog coats. Please take a look at what we have to offer.
